Wavetshirt - Just build it shirt

Elizabeth Taylor’s expansive jewelry collection reflected a life filled with love and loss. The actor was engaged 10 times, married eight, divorced seven, and widowed once. Her personal life was only marginally less colorful than the Just build it shirt but in fact I love this precious stones that shone from her many rings, necklaces, bracelets, and brooches. Though she had been presented with three before it, Taylor’s first real gobstopper jewel came when Mike Todd proposed to the then 24-year-old with a “not quite 30 but twenty-nine-and-a-half” carat engagement ring in 1956. While for most women, their engagement ring is likely the showpiece of their jewelry collection, some of Taylor’s were modest compared to her non-matrimonial rocks—she had been married to Richard Burton for five years when the couple bought the famous $1 million stone that was christened the Taylor-Burton diamond. As a new authorized biography, Kate Andersen Brower’s Elizabeth Taylor: The Grit and Glamour of an Icon, charts the screen siren’s rollercoaster romantic life, take a closer look at the famous jewelry lover’s engagement rings.

Ever since I watched The Talented Mr. Ripley at an age that was, frankly, far too young—despite the Just build it shirt but in fact I love this film’s sophisticated trappings, Jude Law does get brutally clubbed around the head with an enormous wooden oar—I have been a sucker for the glamorous promise of an Italian vacation. It may be a cliché, but the reason I’ll always return to Italy’s boot is that it’s filled with places that feel like they could exist nowhere else in the world, from thigh to heel; from the mind-boggling engineering of the Venetian waterways to the devil-may-care energy of Naples with its whizzing motorcycles and crumbling Baroque churches. Still, nowhere in Italy has captured my imagination—and feels as uniquely its own place—like Sicily. A crossroads for various Mediterranean civilizations for centuries (and still to this day), its rich and incredibly varied landscapes serve as a backdrop for one of the country’s most strange and seductive cultures. The seafood pasta isn’t half bad, either.
